The Technician Responsible for the Operation of Electrical Installations (TRE) is the qualified technician responsible for the operation of private service electrical installations, especially collective electrical installations, generator sets, transformer stations and disconnectors in service and residential buildings.

The TRE is responsible for inspecting the electrical installations, notifying the operator of any anomalies in the electrical installations, meeting any requirements for clarification on technical and safety aspects, instructing maintenance staff and reporting changes to the electrical installation that may interfere with the distribution network and any accidents that may have occurred.

I need a TRE for:

  • Ensuring the safety and proper functioning of electrical installations.
  • Because it is mandatory under Decree-Law 517/80 and Decree-Law 56/85 for all installations supplied with Medium and High Voltage and some installations supplied with Low Voltage to have a TRE.
